A Tummy Tuck includes procedures to shape and contour the abdominal area to lean and svelte proportions. This is otherwise known as abdominoplasty surgery in which unwanted fat and skin is remove from the lower abdominal area. This surgery is oftentimes performed on people with stubborn abdominal fat that do not respond to any form of diets and exercises.
Modes of Evaluating a Patient
There are several factors that contribute to an unsightly tummy.
- Weight gain which leads to accumulation of fat in the abdominal area and excess skin;
- The existence of skin in the abdominal area which has loss elasticity, change of skin texture, and quality. This may be a result of either pregnancy or sudden weight loss;
- A prolonged habit of non-exercise could lead to the loss of muscle tone which results to excess skin and weakened abdominal muscles;
- The presence of hernia that may be repaired during abdominal surgery, like the hernia of the belly button that often happens after pregnancy.
